David Mitchell to Seek Liberal Nomination in District 16: Cornwall–Meadowbank

Educator, counsellor, realtor, and longtime community volunteer David Mitchell has announced he is seeking the Liberal nomination in District 16: Cornwall–Meadowbank.

A lifelong resident with deep roots in the community, Mitchell says he is putting his name forward to help serve the people and families of Cornwall–Meadowbank and be part of a strong and growing team focused on the future of Prince Edward Island.

“I love my community, and I believe my experience and passion for supporting my neighbours can add value to the provincial legislature,” said Mitchell. “Cornwall–Meadowbank is a growing community, and I have the drive and determination to support District 16’s growth into the future.”

A graduate of the Bluefield family of schools, Mitchell went on to play high-level hockey through the North River Minor Hockey system, the Maritime Hockey League, and five seasons with the UPEI Panthers before playing professionally in the United Hockey League and International Hockey League, and winning a championship with the Fresno Falcons in the West Coast Hockey League.

Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Education, and a Master of Education from UPEI, along with a Master of Education in Counselling from Acadia University. He is currently pursuing a residential home appraiser designation through UBC’s Sauder School of Business.

Professionally, Mitchell is a realtor with Century 21 and has spent the past 23 years supporting students and families through various roles at East Wiltshire Intermediate School, where he currently works as a school counsellor. He also operates a private counselling practice supporting youth and adults across Prince Edward Island.

Mitchell is actively involved in his community, volunteering with the school breakfast program and leading an annual Christmas fundraising initiative that supports local families during the holiday season.

David lives in Cornwall with his wife, Michala, and says he is eager for the opportunity to work collaboratively with residents and help build a stronger future for Cornwall–Meadowbank and Prince Edward Island.
