Susan DesRoche Announces Bid for Liberal Nomination in District 22: Summerside-South Drive
Long-time community volunteer, advocate for families, business leader, and non-profit founder, Susan DesRoche has announced her intention to seek the Liberal Party of Prince Edward Island nomination for District 22 Summerside-South Drive.
A longtime resident of Summerside, Susan has lived and worked in the community for decades alongside her husband, Stephen DesRoche. Married for 41 years, they are proud parents of two adult children, Nicole and Jarvis, and grandparents to four grandchildren.
For more than 30 years, Susan has built a successful career in the construction industry in Summerside while maintaining a strong commitment to community service. She has served as Treasurer for both the Boys and Girls Club and Summerside Minor Hockey, helping support programs that benefit local youth and families.
Volunteering has been a long cornerstone of the DesRoche family’s values. Susan and Stephen were recognized with the City of Summerside’s Volunteers of the Year Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the community.
Susan is also a co-founder of LifeHouse Transitional Housing and Emergency Shelter, working alongside co-founder Margaret Fowler to provide support and housing services for vulnerable individuals and families. Through years of fundraising, advocacy, and volunteer work, Susan has helped raise awareness of the critical need for affordable and supportive housing in Prince Edward Island.
Her dedication to community service has earned provincial and national recognition, including the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal and King Charles III Coronation Medal for her contributions to the LifeHouse Project.
“As I seek the nomination for District 22 Summerside-South Drive, I look forward to connecting with neighbours and hearing directly about the issues that matter most to them,” said DesRoche. “Our community is built on people helping one another, and I am committed to being a strong voice for the concerns and priorities of Islanders and the people of Summerside.”
DesRoche says her experience in business, community leadership, and volunteer service has provided her with a strong understanding of the challenges facing families, seniors, workers, and local organizations. She is eager to engage with residents throughout the nomination process and contribute to building a stronger future for District 22, and for Prince Edward Island.
