DONATE

Parker Grimmer is an experienced educational leader and committed community advocate who has spent more than three decades serving young people and their families across Prince Edward Island.

With over 32 years in public education, Parker built his career on a simple belief: the best solutions are found when people listen to one another and work together. Whether serving as a teacher, principal, or as the first Director of the Public Schools Branch, he earned a reputation as a calm, steady leader who brings people together to solve complex challenges with practical, common-sense solutions.

From 2008 to 2016, Parker served as Principal of Queen Charlotte Intermediate, supporting students and families from West Royalty, Winsloe, and across District 10. He later led Sherwood Elementary School from 2021 to 2025, guiding the school community through the successful planning and construction of a new net-zero facility while ensuring students and staff remained safe, supported, and thriving throughout the transition.

In 2015, in recognition of his leadership and dedication, Parker was named one of Canada’s Outstanding Principals by The Learning Partnership — an honour awarded to public school leaders who demonstrate passion, innovation, and commitment to student success.

As the inaugural Director of the Public Schools Branch (2016–2020), Parker oversaw the operations of the English public school system during a period of significant structural reform. In a high-pressure environment with competing priorities, he demonstrated thoughtful decision-making, financial stewardship, and a collaborative approach grounded in respect and accountability.

Throughout his career, Parker has worked closely with students, parents, teachers, support staff, government officials, community organizations, and local businesses. He is known as approachable, accessible, and deeply respectful — someone who listens first and acts with integrity. He believes leadership is not about titles, but about service.

Beyond his professional life, Parker has long been active in the Sherwood community. He has coached minor hockey, supported Home and School initiatives, volunteered with the school breakfast program, and contributed to local fundraising efforts. Having lived in the district for 35 years, he understands both the opportunities and the pressures facing Charlottetown–Winsloe as it experiences unprecedented growth. He is committed to ensuring that development is matched with the services, schools, and housing that families need and that people are kept at the centre of every decision.

Parker holds a Master of Education in Leadership and Learning, as well as Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Prince Edward Island.

He lives in Sherwood with his wife, Heather Stevenson Grimmer, a retired teacher who served generations of Island students. Together they raised four children and are proud grandparents of four grandchildren.

Parker brings experience, steady leadership, and a deep commitment to community to everything he does. His focus is simple: listen carefully, work hard, and help build a strong future for District 10 and for Prince Edward Island.
