Educator and Small Business Owner Ann Myers Announces Bid for PEI Liberal Nomination in District 6, Stratford – Keppoch
As a proud Islander and resident of Stratford, Ann Myers has announced she will be seeking the Liberal Party nomination for District 6 Stratford - Keppoch. She brings a strong combination of education experience, small business leadership, and deep community connection. Ann is prepared to work hard for the people of District 6 Stratford – Keppoch and for all Islanders.
Ann was born and raised in rural PEI, attending Fort Augustus and Charlottetown Rural for her early education. She graduated from UPEI with an Arts degree, majoring in History and a minor in French, and then completed a Bachelor of Education. During her degrees, Ann took many political science courses, which strengthened her interest in how public decisions shape the lives of citizens. Teaching has always been a passion of hers, and she believes strongly that education is one of the clearest pathways to opportunity and success.
In 1998, Ann moved to Alberta and taught junior high Humanities in Edmonton for ten years. She was also in several administrative roles and spoke at multiple Teachers’ Conventions and to the Public-School Board. Teaching current events and encouraging students to become active participants in their communities were central to her teaching philosophy. Ann was a finalist in both Excellence in teaching and two Governor General Awards for innovation in education.
Soon after her son, Sydney, was born, the decision was easily made that it was time to come home. She believes there is no better place to raise a child than with the support and love of family and the close community values found on PEI. In 2009, Ann moved to Stratford with her family and continues to live there in the beautiful community of Glencove.
In 2014, once her son started Grade 1, Ann became the owner of Sylvan Learning Centre, a private tutoring company. It remains one of the most meaningful professional experiences of her career. It allowed her to remain connected to education while helping families in a direct and personal way. Ann was able to double the initial enrollment from the previous owner through her ability to connect with people and be authentic in her approach to helping them. She was also able to build strong working relationships with government agencies, as well as public and private school systems. Parents value being heard, and she takes pride in helping create clear and individualized strategies for their children’s success.
Now that her son is 18 and more independent, Ann is ready to take on a new challenge and serve in public life. Her background in education, business ownership, and community service has helped prepare her to listen carefully, solve problems, build relationships, and advocate effectively. She believes the Liberal time is now. With Dan Kutcher as the leader, the Liberal Party has the opportunity to offer Islanders a compassionate and practical political team focused on improving essential services such as health care and education, while ensuring the cost of living remains within reach. Islanders deserve a government that brings Islanders together, supports opportunity in every community, and puts practical solutions ahead of politics.
Ann is committed to helping build a stronger, more affordable, and inclusive future for the people of PEI. She understands that constituents want to feel heard, supported and appreciated. Hard work, fairness, and looking out for one another are traits that Islanders are expecting from their representatives. There are many challenges facing Island families, our workers, seniors, students, small businesses owners, and rural communities. Ann believes that Islanders deserve a government that listens, acts with compassion, and focuses on results while protecting the Island way of life for future generations. Ann welcomes the opportunity to represent District 6 Stratford – Keppoch with these priorities and work collaboratively with the Liberal team and with Islanders across the province. She will bring to this position positive energy, integrity, and a strong commitment to serving the people of District 6 Stratford - Keppoch. She is ready to work hard, listen carefully, and be a dedicated voice for their community in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island.
