Robert Mitchell was first elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly in the provincial general election of 2007 in District 10, Charlottetown – Sherwood and was re-elected in both 2011 and the recent May 4, 2015, provincial general elections. Robert Mitchell is currently Minister of Communities, Land and the Environment.
Mr. Mitchell served as a Member of the Standing Committee on Education and Innovation; the Standing Committee on Health, Social Development and Seniors; and the Standing Committee on Public Accounts. On May 20, 2015, he was appointed Minister of Communities, Land and Environment.
On January 10th, 2018 Premier Wade MacLauhclan appointed Robert to be Minister of Health & Wellness.
Robert has had a successful career, both as a long-time employee with Maritime Electric and as a partner in a local stone business. He has also worked in the real estate industry.
He is a dedicated community volunteer who has been active in his church’s catechism program and has volunteered with various teams in both the Sherwood-Parkdale Minor Baseball and Hockey Associations.
Robert and his wife Bonnie live in Sherwood. They have four children Ryan, Jordan, Megan and Brandon, and two granddaughters, Callie and Elliotte.
